“The soul without imagination is what an observatory would be without a telescope.” -Henry Ward Beecher

Known as the Behold™  telescope, this augmented reality device will replace traditional coin operated telescopes found in tall buildings’ observatories. By simply aiming the telescope at landmarks in the surrounding landscape, users will get interesting facts at the push of a button. The Behold™  telescope also contains previously saved images which enable users to view sites in daytime and night-time, in good or bad weather.

gsmprjct°technologie developed and manufactured the interactive electronic telescopes. The user-visible hardware portion is a digital high-resolution camera linked to an LCD touch-screen capable of providing additional information on images captured in real-time. The assembly pivots freely around its axis, offering complete XYZ control. It features payment processing and content updates.

Its first deployment was done in January 2010, at the 124th floor observatory of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. gsmprjct° is in discussions with many world renown towers for the deployment of the Behold™ telescope. In the second quarter of 2010, they will announce the next towers where it will be deployed.
