“A man from the street, an animal, a child, superstars, gods of our time.” - Robert Wilson
On a tour of major international venues such as New York, Los Angeles and Milan, these groundbreaking high-definition videos were showcased for the first time in Asia at the National Museum of Singapore.
Having a multi-disciplinary background, Robert Wilson has drawn inspiration from his past encounters to produce a groundbreaking series of videos called VOOM Portraits showcasing celebrity, ordinary people and animals. The video portraits are looped with no noticeable beginning or end, running endlessly as a framed work of art, making the visitors believe it’s still photography.
gsmprjct°’s challenge was to showcase 19 of Robert Wilson’s Voom portraits in the unique architecture at the National Museum of Singapore. The exhibition was organized in two galleries. Some portraits where located in strategic spaces of the old building such as the rotunda and the main staircases, while the others where organized in the temporary gallery space. Here portraits were presented in individual rooms with a rigorous layout that accentuated the sense of scale, perspective and symmetry.
