The chimneys of the Miron Quarry have long been the sad watchtowers of the third largest dump in North America, involuntary representatives of a terrible scar on the urban landscape of Montreal. Their demolition marked the beginning of a new era, leading to the elaboration of the Saint-Michel Environmental Complex. The development of this major project involving the creation of an urban park and the installation of cultural, social, recreational and ecological institutions on the famous site justifies the presence of the city of Montreal in a space dedicated to the best urban practices at the Universal Exposition in Shanghai.
Seeing as the context of a universal exposition requires exhibitions to captivate and leave a lasting impression on a wide audience, gsmprjct°creation faced the challenge of getting the most out of this exceptional opportunity. The entrance wall fascinates from the start due to an opening that reveals an intriguing mechanism made of hundreds of pistons. Just around the corner, the entire rectangular structure is revealed, composed of 720 mobile blocs that form a modular three-dimensional screen on which an original film is projected. Dynamic editing, an original soundtrack and shocking images dramatically illustrate the many phases in the completion of this project.
The final area, reserved for factual content and official presentations, uses blocs similar to those from the projection surface, light tables displaying various aerial views of the site as well as textual descriptions that allow the visitor to deepen his understanding of the project and of the city of Montreal.
